Job Title: Full Charge Bookkeeper
Location: Palo Alto, CA (Onsite)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our client's team in Palo Alto. This is a fully onsite position, offering the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic and collaborative team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage all aspects of the company's bookkeeping functions. From overseeing the general ledger to processing payroll and handling financial reporting, you'll take ownership of the accounting process and contribute to the financial success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Full Cycle Bookkeeping:
+ Maintain and manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
+ Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
+ Reconcile all bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts on a monthly basis.
Payroll Management:
+ Prepare and process employee payroll, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
+ Manage benefits, tax filings, and other payroll-related tasks.
+ ADP, Workday, Paychex or Rippling preferred
Compliance:
+ File and maintain compliance with sales tax, payroll tax, and other applicable tax forms and deadlines.
+ Ensure adherence to all internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Year-End Support:
+ Collaborate with external accountants and auditors to provide necessary documentation for tax preparation and year-end audits.
+ Prepare all required documentation for 1099 and W-2 reporting.
Process Improvements:
+ Regularly review and optimize accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
+ Recommend and implement automation tools or new processes where applicable.
Administrative Support (as needed):
+ Maintain organized files and records related to accounting, payroll, and vendor management.
+ Manage ad hoc projects and financial requests as required by management.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Education:
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, but a combination of education and substantial experience will be considered.
+ Experience:
+ 3-5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping or significant accounting experience.
+ Prior experience in a small or mid-sized company is a plus.
+ Technical Skills:
+ Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online or Desktop) is required.
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables) and other Microsoft Office tools.
+ Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Gusto, Workday or Paychex) is a plus.
+ Soft Skills:
+ Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
+ Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and vendors.
+ Knowledge:
+ Thorough understanding of GAAP and tax filing requirements.
+ Familiarity with state and local tax codes applicable to California businesses.
