POSITION SUMMARY:
• We are seeking a senior associate scientist to help manage our internal protein inventory and assist with routine antibody purifications. Your primary activities will be to fulfill inventory requests, perform FPLC-based antibody purifications, and analyze purified material to confirm quality. Your work will support the core protein production group within the Research department and will play a critical role in driving preclinical efforts to develop Client antibody-based therapeutics.
POSITION
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Regularly monitor, self-assign, and update inventory requests
• Use LIMS interface and Excel workbooks to fulfill and document assigned requests
• Manipulate protein samples under sterile conditions inside a biosafety cabinet
• Purify antibodies with AKTA Avant equipment.
• Characterize purified proteins by UPLC, UV-vis, and Mass Spectrometry methods.
• Maintain detailed records of purification experiments in an ELN.
• Complete general lab upkeep including buffer preparation and basic FPLC/column maintenance.
• Communicate activities to the team and troubleshoot any issues, elevating problems to management as needed.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
• Regularly interact with members of Protein Solutions Group, particularly the Purification sub-team.
• Regularly interact with inventory requestors, particularly members of the Conjugation and In Vivo groups.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree in STEM field (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry) with 2+ years post-degree lab experience
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
• Wet lab experience using pipettes and maintaining sample sterility using biological safety cabinets.
• Hands-on experience with FPLC protein purification.
• High attention to detail and successfully accomplishes meticulous work.
• Demonstrated ability to handle simultaneous responsibilities and adapt to changing priorities.
• Able to identify concerns, investigate solutions and escalate to management.
• Work in a team-based environment employing a solution-based approach.
• (Preferred) experience with protein analytical methods (e.g., analytical SEC, HIC, mass spectrometry).
• (Preferred) experience keeping records in ELN systems.
• (Preferred) writes or understands advanced Excel formulas and VBA or other coding languages.
PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Able to lift and move 25 lbs
Hard Skills:
